The juvenile justice system has a responsibility to protect the community from known juvenile offenders. Juveniles who do not commit a new offense while under court supervision have a higher probability of remaining crime free.
CY - Calendar Year
Since 2009, county juvenile probation departments have supervised and closed 126,006 cases. The proportion of cases closed successfully during this time is 84.1%.
This datasets represents the number and percentage of juveniles who successfully completed supervision without a new offense resulting in a Consent Decree, Adjudication of Delinquency, ARD, Nolo Contendere, or finding of guilt in criminal procedure.
This dataset is contained within the Juvenile Court Judges' Commission 2018 Statewide Juvenile Justice Outcome Measure report: this report reflects outcomes of juvenile offenders whose cases were closed during the report period and who have received a period of supervision from a county juvenile probation department. These reported outcomes are associated with community protection, accountability, and competency development; three core goals of Pennsylvania's juvenile justice system.

The official FCC broadband definition is a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.
Cable/fiber internet connection is used to define access to broadband, since these are the most commonly used and currently best two types of internet for a fast connection. Other technologies are less preferable due to slowness, instability, data caps, and latency.
Data Note:
Access to broadband by PREP Region represents the average access across the counties comprising each PREP region.

Chart shows data starting with Calendar Year (CY) 2014 Statewide. In Pennsylvania, juvenile court jurisdiction extends over individuals who have been alleged to have committed a delinquent act, as defined by 42 Pa. C. S. § 6301 et seq., on or after their tenth birthday and prior to reaching eighteen years of age. Juvenile court supervision can extend until the individual is twenty-one years of age if the individual is currently under supervision. Age for purposes of this section was calculated from the juvenile’s date of birth to the date of the offense in the written allegation.

Vital information, processes, and connections are increasingly happening online, which students, workers, and businesses need to reach their full potential. Reliable access to high-speed broadband also reflects a place's ability to attract the most highly skilled workers or dynamic firms, especially with the rising trend of remote work.
Data Note:
The data represents the average broadband subscription rate across the counties comprising each PREP region.

This graph shows funds allocated to the Dept. of Community and Economic Development (DCED) from the state’s General Fund, by year. This is part of the annual budget proposed by the Governor and altered or approved by the General Assembly. The three DCED programs highlighted—the Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Manufacture PA, and Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP)—are central to fostering the Commonwealth’s entrepreneurial community and emerging technology companies, often providing necessary capital before the private market can feasibly be expected to step in.
Note re Small Business Assistance/PREP (red series): In FY 2011, Industrial Development Assistance Local Development Districts, Small Business Development Centers, and Industrial Resource Centers were consolidated into Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP).
Note re Manufacturing PA (green series): In FY 2017-18, the Manufacturing PA line item was created at $12M. That line includes the Industrial Resource Centers (IRCs). As a result of the IRCs being moved out of the PREP line item, coupled with the creation of a new program within the PREP line, the overall appropriation for PREP was reduced by $2M, but its programs were not negatively impacted.

Startup early survival rate is one major piece of capturing Pennsylvania's early-stage entrepreneurship quality. It is important to focus on the survival of startups as they are responsible for essentially all new job growth in the U.S. economy. The Kauffman Foundation more fully explores this facet of the economy in this series: https://indicators.kauffman.org/series/earlystage.
It is important to consider that this metric captures all new businesses, not just those that are considered to be innovative, or offer a new product or process to the market.

This measure is both a factor for and outcome of a healthy, thriving economy. An inflow of new working-age adults to a region attracts outside companies and enables growing companies to stay. Outsiders bring new skills and ideas and help connect the region to the national and global economy. Research shows cross-regional migration may also drive up local wages. (1) Finally, net positive migration is a measure of a region’s attractiveness regarding amenities, school quality, safety, and a variety of high-quality jobs.

This indicator includes the number of days hospitalized for Opioid Use Disorder and the estimated lost wages due to hospitalization.
Analyses were completed by the University of Pittsburgh using data from the PA Health Care Cost Containment Council and in cooperation with PA DOH.
PHC4’s database contains statewide hospital discharge data submitted to PHC4 by Pennsylvania hospitals. Every reasonable effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information obtained from the Uniform Claims and Billing Form (UB-82/92/04) data elements. Computer collection edits and validation edits provide opportunity to correct specific errors that may have occurred prior to, during or after submission of data. The ultimate responsibility for data accuracy lies with individual providers.
